Aiken Wins Agnew SEAT race in Banbridge

Dromore man Roger Aiken (Team Asea) won Round 5 of the Agnew SEAT Super seven series in Banbridge on Friday night. Roger was one of a five man break that dominated the hour long race from the first few laps of the testing town centre course. He surged clear of his co escapees, namely, Gareth McKee (Banbridge CC), Mark Dowling (DID Dunboyne, Jake Gray (Nicholas Roche Performance Team) and David Montgomery (Team JM), after winning the prime at 30 mins. The four chasers were later caught by the remnants of the main bunch where Gary Crory (VC Glendale) and Lindsay Watson (Plush MTB) were keeping the pressure on. Roger was over forty seconds ahead at the finish with Dowling beating Gray in the sprint for second. Dowling now leads the overall series from Gray. Zak Hanna (Dromara CC) deserves a special mention as he was in the thick of the action in the second group on the road until the last few laps. He was 11th at the finish and won the A3 award.

Martin Gilbert (Smart Lamp) won the over 50s race with a lone breakaway with Chris McCann (Dig Deep Coaching) and Rob Cummings (Newry Wheelers) second and third.

Shenna McKiverigan (Powerhouse Sport) was first woman while John Buller (Banbridge CC) won the Clubmans race.
