Tommy Givan Memorial

Maryland Wheelers held their annual Tommy Givan Memorial road race today on the Hillsborough/Annahilt course. The riders enjoyed the fine dry weather and an early breakaway stayed away in the main A1,2 & 3 race. Mark McKinley (Newry Wheelers) put his recent health problems behind him to score a memorable win from Mark Millar (Velo Club Magasin) and Mark Downey (Nicolas Roche Junior Team).

The A4 race was won by Phoenix CC ridder Chris Rea.
Earlier in the morning youth riders raced over three laps of the same tough circuit.Conor McCann (Dig Deep) was a worthy winner from East Tyrones Jake Gray and Joash Lawrence (North Down CC).

It was a great day of racing and a fitting tribute to Tommy Givan who was a track champion in the 1940s and 50s.
