Mid Ulster Grand Prix

The Harps CC held their annual mid Uster Grand Prix today on a 9.5 mile hilly circuit at Cookstown. The A racce for A1,2 & 3 riders did six laps and race winner was Angus Fyffe Omagh ahead of new star Ali Gribbon (Carn Wheelers) and Marc Potts Omagh.
The A4 race was son by Rodney Young (Carn Wheelers) with a delighted Garth Beattie (North Down CC) in second.
It was a good day for the Bangor club as Tom Henry turned the clock back with a fine third place in the over 50s race. Tom is origninally from East Tyrone and this was his first open event for thirty years. Ian Blayney was fifth in the same event just pipped by Cycling Ulster Chairman Tommy Lamb.
New member Johnny Maguire sprinted well to take 6th in the 'A' race.

Riders and spectators enjoyed the race but missed the traditional Ulster post race refreshments.
