Tommy Givan Memorial
Maryland Wheelers promoted the Tommy Givan Memorial race today at Hillsborough. The tough course and wintry weather made it a hard day for the riders.
In the main A1,2& 3 race a breakaway was clear on the first of seven laps (63 miles) - eventual winner Gary Cranston (East Antrim) was in this 7 man group as was the runner up Brian McCrystal (Chuchullaine CC). In the later laps the group split and Cranston and McCrystal sprinted for the win. Glen Kining finished on his own in third. (Glen had puctured earlier loosing his place with the other two riders).
Mike Millar (Phoenix CC) did a notable ride to get into the break as did comeback king Brian Stewart.
The A4 race was won by another East Antrim rider, Ali McKee from Ryan Mitchel of the promoting club and improving North Down man Andrew Cregg third.
