World Silver Medal for Martyn Irvine
21 Feb 2013
Newtownards cyclist Martyn Irvine made history today in the world track cycling championships in Minsk when he won a silver meadal in the 4000 metre pursuit champions. This is the first world championship medal for an Irish man since Harry Reynolds took the 1 mile title in 1896.
He did a time of 4 mins 20.260 to qualify him for the final. Hepburn from Austraiia took the gold.
He is a great ambassador for Irish Cycling.
