Thrills and Spills at Castle Park

North Down Cycling Club held round 4 of the Ulster Cyclo Cross league in a windswept Castle Park Bangor on Sunday.

Race organiser Matty Blayney and the hard working club staged a superb days racing for all ages and categories.
Many of Uulster current cycling stars bega their careers in Bangors Castle Park especially in the Winter League (1993-2003) promoted by the Blayney brothers Ian, Eric and Trevor.
It was fitting that all the above were involved on Sunday with the next generation taking the lead in the promotion. Matty is Erics son while Ians son Ross was also on the orgainising team.
Kathleen and Shirley and Angela(the latest Mrs Blayney, Matties wife) were cheif 'Refreshments Officer'.
Clifford (Trevors son) competed in the MTB race while Ross's daughter Daisy did the under 8 race.
Most notable however was club chairman Ian Blayney who did his first off road race after years of promoting and commentation on them.

Matt Adair(XMTB) won the main 'A' cyclo cross from Glen Kinning (East Antrim) and Jason Henry. Full resutls list is on the Ulster Cyclocross website.

Colm Watson (VC Glendale) made a great video of the kids events and another one of the promoting club, North Down's riders.
